Man Pleads Guilty To Reduced Charge

From Staff Reports

A Sandpoint man arrested in a shooting incident last month pleaded guilty to reduced charges this week.

Mark Alan Ramsay, 23, originally was charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident Nov. 28, in which he shot at a truck carrying two men.

The men, Tracy Copeland and Michael Grant, were retrieving a dog that Ramsay had taken earlier in the evening from his ex-girlfriend.

Ramsay had been pursuing the men when his pickup went off the road near Spirit Lake. Copeland and Grant drove by and taunted Ramsay, who allegedly pulled a gun out of his pickup and shot at them. A bullet pierced Copeland’s shoulder.

Ramsay pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of aggravated assault and one count of unlawfully discharging a firearm at a vehicle. His sentencing was scheduled for Feb. 16.
