Fire Damages Mall, Apartment Building

A vacant strip mall in Auburn and an apartment building in Bellevue were damaged in separate fires.

One firefighter was treated for a minor knee injury in Auburn.

Damages were estimated at $200,000 in each blaze.

Investigators had yet to establish the cause of either fire.

In Auburn, 28 firefighters battled the flames at the strip mall after the blaze was discovered shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday. The fire was contained to one unit of the building.

In Bellevue, a fire at the Heritage Gardens apartment complex began in the kitchen of a second-floor unit.
