Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: I find that charcoal is a much better refrigerator deodorant than baking soda.
I’ve heard of putting charcoal briquettes in an old sock in the fridge, but I find that I get charcoal dust all over.
Instead, I put a dozen briquettes in the bottom half of an empty egg carton with the lid cut off. The carton and briquettes can then be placed in the back of the fridge.
Works great and there is no charcoal dust to clean up. - David Gibboni, Havertown, Pa.
Your hint is an odor-eater for sure. Some people suggest activated charcoal, which works well, too. Glad you wrote. - Heloise
