Darrell Huxford Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for Darrell Adria Huxford, 88, will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Huxford, who was born in Twisp, Wash., died Saturday.

Mrs. Huxford moved to Murray, Idaho in 1939 and started a Sabbath School and taught Bible studies.

She lived in Shelton and Bremerton, Wash., and attended Olympia College from which she received a degree as a licensed practical nurse.

She also became a deaconess in the Adventist Church.

Mrs. Huxford was a member of the Dorcas Society (now known as ADRA), the Retired Nurses Association and was a charter member of the Washington LPN Association, where she wrote the original pledge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, in 1972.

Survivors include two daughters, Olive Strailman of Coeur d’Alene, and Adria Blakeney of Oregon; two sons, Herbert Floyd and Darlie Huxford, both of Belfair, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Roy Stark Hayden, Idaho

Memorial service for Roy F. Stark, 75, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Coeur d’Alene Christian Center, 3495 W. Prairie Ave., Hayden. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stark, who was born in Provo, Utah., died Wednesday.

He grew up in Van Nuys, Calif., and then served in the Army Air Force as an aircraft mechanic during World War II.

Mr. Stark moved near Farragut after his military service and taught a carpentry class before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1948.

He designed and built homes and was involved in the North Idaho Building Contractors Association. He was a member of the Avondale Golf Club and the Lincoln Way Golf Association.

Survivors include his wife, Elanna; a daughter, Teresa Willette of Post Falls; a son, Larry Stark of Hayden; a stepson, Kenya Williams of Hayden; a brother, Paul Stark of California; a sister, Gloria Nielsen of Utah; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Doris Wiks Kettle Falls, Wash.

Service for Doris M. Wiks, 83, was Monday at Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, Wash. Burial followed at the Meyers Falls Cemetery in Kettle Falls.

Mrs. Wiks, who was born in Challis, Idaho, died Feb. 3.

She graduated in 1932 from Challis High School and married David Wiks that same year.

During the Depression, she worked in North Idaho at the Civilian Conservation Corps camp and then they moved to Mackay, Idaho.

Mrs. Wiks worked in a doctor’s office for several years before moving to Marcus, Wash., in 1954 and then to Kettle Falls in 1956.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge, both in Kettle Falls.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, David Wiks of Kettle Falls and Jake Wiks of Spokane; a daughter, Norma Norton of Spokane; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the Spokane Guilds School.

Emma Gibbons Spokane

Service for Emma L. Gibbons, 100, will be at 10 a.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Gibbons, who was born in Traverse County, Minn., died Friday.

She taught school in Chinook, Mont., and was the secretary for the Chamber of Commerce in Great Falls, Mont.

Mrs. Gibbons moved to Spokane in 1935 from Great Falls and was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and The Over 50 Club.

Her husband, Lee Gibbons, died in 1950.

Survivors include a sister, Ebba Odenborg of Clintonville, Wis.

Flora Wills Athol, Idaho

At her request, no service will be held for Flora Ingraham Wills, 92. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wills, who was born in Sidney, Nova Scotia, died Saturday.

She grew up in Nova Scotia and British Columbia, and moved to the United States in 1927.

Mrs. Wills lived in Seattle, Wash., and San Diego, Calif., briefly before settling in San Pedro, Calif.

She moved to Athol in 1995.

Mrs. Wills was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in California and also gave piano lessons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George.

Survivors include a son, George Wills of Athol; a brother, John McKenzie of British Columbia; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Allison ‘Al’ Hobbs Spokane

Private family graveside service for Allison “Al” Hobbs, 84, will be at 2 p.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hobbs, who was born in Tarlton, Tenn., died Saturday.

In 1943 he married Christine Meyer in Bremerton.

He worked as a rigger for the naval shipyard in Bremerton and later as a carpenter. He retired in 1978.

Mr. Hobbs was a 50-year Spokane resident and was a member of the Spokane Eagles Lodge and Hillyard Senior Center.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Hobbs of Spokane and John Hobbs of Columbia, Ohio; two daughters, Carol Bird of Pasco and Kathy Briney of Spokane; a brother, Eugene Hobbs of Boise; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or the Union Gospel Mission.

Charles Killin Davenport, Wash.

Service for Charles C. Killin, 84, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Davenport Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Killin, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.

He owned and operated Killin Printing and Engraving in Spokane and sold printing machines throughout the Northwest until his retirement.

Mr. Killin was a member of the Davenport Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various leadership positions. He was instrumental in building several Latter-day Saints chapels.

He was active in the Boy Scouts and served on the Scouting Advisory Board in both Washington and Idaho.

Mr. Killin moved to Davenport from Spokane four years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Debbie Gibson of Boulder City, Nev., and Sue Jarvis of Corvallis, Ore.; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Davenport Public Library or the Davenport Boy Scouts.

Frederick Uhden Spokane

Service for Frederick W. Uhden, 85, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Fourth Memorial Church. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Uhden, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Friday.

He graduated in 1930 from North Central High School and for a short time owned Corbin Park Grocery with his father.

Mr. Uhden then worked for Skaggs Automotive for 27 years, retiring in 1978.

He worked for the past 20 years as the custodian at Fourth Memorial Church, where he was a member and served as a trustee.

Mr. Uhden was also a member of the American Bowling Congress.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jeannette; a son, Lester Uhden of Spokane; three daughters, Wilma Engstrom of Medical Lake, Eleanor Streeter of Monaco, and Becky Uhden of Johannesburg, South Africa; a sister, Joy Uhden of Spokane; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Missions Fund at Fourth Memorial Church.

Rose Mary Meadows Coeur d’Alene

No service will be held for Rose Mary Meadows, 65. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Meadows, who was born in Missoula, Mont., died Feb. 2.

She grew up and attended school in Missoula and then moved to California where she spent most of her life until moving to Post Falls 10 years ago.

Survivors include a son, Michael Marry of Kansas; three daughters, Marsha Marry of Rathdrum, Idaho, Roxanna Lester of Missouri, and Jackie Marry of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Beverly Weeks of Missoula; a brother, Robert Morgan of Post Falls; one granddaughter, Marsha; and three great-grandchildren.

Michael Yost Spokane

Service for Michael E. Yost, 39, is set for 11 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - South. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mr. Yost, who was born in Silverton, Ore., died Wednesday in an automobile accident near Lind, Wash.

He was a 30-year Spokane resident and worked as a cook in local restaurants.

Survivors include two sisters, Cathy White of Covington, Wash., and Karen Garner of Spokane; two brothers, Martin Yost of Tukwila, Wash., and Christopher Yost of Kennewick; his father, Edward Yost of Lebanon, Ore.; and his grandmother, Elinor Sipes of Tacoma.
