Mike Barnhart, 38, the former senior associate athletic director at Tennessee, has been hired as the new athletic director at Oregon State University.

Barnhart, who becomes the youngest A.D. in the Pacific-10 Conference, faces an OSU athletic budget deficit of $5.7 million, and it could reach $10 million in the next two years.

Barnhart replaces Dutch Baughman, who resigned last August.
