Vc Takes League Title Game

Valley Christian, on target for its first State B tournament appearance, completed a near-perfect Bi-County League season Thursday.

Brian Sears hit 8 of 11 field goals as the sixth-ranked Panthers (19-2) defeated Wilbur-Creston (14-7) 69-59 in the championship game of the league tournament at Reardan.

VC has won seven consecutive games since its lone league loss to Odessa on Jan. 17.VC opens play at the District 7-B tournament at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Spokane Community College against Panorama No. 4 Selkirk. W-C, the Bi-County No. 2, opens district at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Spokane Falls Community College against Panorama No. 3 St. George’s.

Craig Elder hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter as the Warriors (15-9) built a six-point lead and held off the Tigers (15-8) to earn district berth No. 3.

ACH opens district at 6 p.m. Tuesday at SCC against Panorama No. 2, either Curlew or Republic, who meet in the league title game tonight. Odessa draws the Panorama champion for a district opener, at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at SFCC.
