Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I have solved the problem of sorting everyone’s socks and underpants.

In our house they are all white or light-colored. I buy the largest nylon-mesh zippered bags I can find and label them with names. Each person gets enough bags so their underwear will fit very loosely in them. They bag their own underwear, it goes together in one washload, then to the dryer and then to the owner.

I do no sorting and we don’t lose socks. - Sharon Gonzalez, San Antonio

Dear Heloise: My boys are always getting holes in the knees of their jeans. I cut the legs at the knees of one pair and hemmed them to make shorts. With the legs that were cut off, I made patches to sew on other pairs of jeans. - R. Small, Fort Washington, Md.
