Local Cooks Take Silver In Competition
They didn’t get the gold, but they’re more than satisfied with the silver.
A team of cooks from the local junior chapter of the American Culinary Federation - profiled in last week’s IN Food - finished second out of 14 teams at a regional competition over the weekend in Sacramento, Calif.
“We are very proud of what we’ve accomplished,” said team captain Chris Solscheid, 28, who cooks at Beverly’s in The Coeur d’Alene Resort.
Other team members include Michael Noble, 25, a pastry cook at the resort; Dave Evensizer, 20, and Jerry Librande, 18, both of whom cook at the Beachouse in Coeur d’Alene, and Matt Madison, 20, a former Ridpath Hotel cook who now lives in Portland.
