Bids Being Accepted For 3rd Avenue Work
The city is open for bids from construction companies to do road work on Third Avenue, the city engineer told the urban renewal commission this week.
The repaving of Third Avenue should begin this spring, said Bill Melvin, city engineer.
The Urban Renewal Commission will pay up to $135,000 of the cost, said Jerry Basler, city urban planner.
A street plan the City Council approved in December proposed spending $235,000 to rebuild Third Avenue from the city shop to Spokane Street.
Basler also proposed amending the urban renewal plan for improving the downtown area. An earlier plan had called for improvements mainly on Spokane Street and Fourth Avenue costing $545,187.
The commission will work out the specific details of the plans at future meetings.
The commission also approved a decision to seek judicial confirmation for bonds it has planned to issue to improve the area around the Riverbend Commerce Park. , DataTimes
