Drug Raid Targets Alleged Meth Lab

From Staff And Wire Reports

Bonner County drug agents raided several homes Thursday morning, including one in Sagle that allegedly contained a methamphetamine lab.

Authorities released few details about the drug raids. Agents searched the homes early in the morning and arrested at least five people.

A hazardous materials team and the fire department were called to the Sagle residence. The crews were on standby, apparently while the dangerous chemicals and equipment used to manufacture methamphetamines was dismantled.

The alleged meth lab was found in the basement of an elderly couples’ home. The man arrested apparently was a relative who was helping to care for the couple.

Authorities arrested Tina Mongan, 23, and Jeff Rounsville, 36, both of Sandpoint, for possession of a controlled substance. James E. Johnson, 33, and Valerie S. Syth, 27, both of Sagle, were charged with manufacturing a controlled substance.

Syth also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and frequenting a place where drugs are sold. Also arrested was Dallas D. Johnston, 29, of Post Falls for manufacturing a controlled substance.
