Boise Construction Firm Owes $21,812 In Back Wages, Labor Department Says
The U.S. Department of Labor says a Boise construction company has been ordered to pay $21,812 in back pay and damages to 32 employees for violation of federal wage standards.
The agency’s Seattle office said default judgment was entered in U.S. District Court against James M. Davis and J.D. Construction, Inc., doing business as James M. Davis and Associates Inc.
The federal agency said the judgment represents the difference between wages actually paid and the amount the employees should have been paid for overtime.
Liquidated damages also were awarded.
The Fair Labor Standards Act requires employers to pay workers one and one-half times their regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 40 hours in a week and at least the applicable federal minimum wage of $5.15 per hour.
