Larry Shenfield Chosen As December Rotary Student

Larry Shenfield, son of Rick and Karalee Shenfield of Post Falls, has been chosen as the Post Falls Rotary Student of the Month for December.

Shenfield, who maintains a 3.5 grade-point average, is a member of the National Honor Society, Scholar Athletes, and Who’s Who Among American High School Students.

He plays baseball for the American Legion Prairie Cardinals and was chosen Pitcher of the Year in 1997.

Shenfield works as a snowboard instructor at Silver Mountain Resort and plans to attend a four-year university and major in architecture as well as play baseball.

Idaho Senator Larry Craig recently announced local students he has nominated for military service academies in 1998. Nominees and their schools are listed by academy.

Air Force Academy: Devon Christensen, Post Falls, St. George’s School; Aaron Moate, Coeur d’Alene, Falls Christian Academy; Sarah Walter, Bonners Ferry, Bonners Ferry High School.

Naval Academy: Jacey Vogrig, Priest River, Priest River-Lamanna High School.

Military Academy: Jason Clifford, Coeur d’Alene, Lake City High School; Michael O’Halloran, Sandpoint, Sandpoint High School.

Merchant Marine Academy; Eric Bakie, Rathdrum, Lake City High School.
