Chiefs Open Tough As Road Wars Begin

The Spokane Chiefs began their five-game road swing with a win, using three goals in the final period to upend the Prince Albert Raiders 5-3 in Western Hockey League action Tuesday night.

The Chiefs (30-13-3) got off to 2-0 start with their leading scorer, Greg Leeb, scoring twice off assists by Perry Johnson. The goals were Leeb’s 30th and 31st.

The Raiders (10-33-3) came back with three unanswered scores to lead 3-2 at the end of the second period. Former Chief Joel Boschman scored first, followed by Harlan Pratt and Derek Paget.

Derek Schutz tied the game 47 seconds into the third, and Ron Grimard’s goal 41 seconds later gave the Chiefs the lead. Schutz scored again with 10 seconds remaining on an open-net goal. Spokane’s next stop is at Saskatoon tonight at 7.
