Dollar Turns In Mixed Performance

The dollar finished mixed Thursday, dropping below 130 Japanese yen for the first time in two weeks after Indonesia agreed to a sweeping reform package that boosted traders’ optimism about Asia’s struggling economies.

The dollar rose against the German mark, however, on rumors that Germany might rethink its entry into the planned European common currency.

Against the yen, the dollar also was weakened by a report in Japan’s leading business newspaper that Tokyo will devise another economic stimulus package in March.
