Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I decided to send some homemade cookies to my daughter who recently went off to college.

I recycled some potato-chip canisters to use as containers for the cookies. After baking (and cooling) I placed a dozen or so cookies in a row on a piece of plastic wrap and wrapped them roll fashion, then dropped the row of cookies into the empty canister.

I sent several canisters. The cookies did not crumble and stayed fresh during shipping and in her dorm room.

An added bonus was when the cookies were gone she could then throw the can away and keep the clutter down in her room! - Sandy Faulkner, Pickerington, Ohio

All college students love goodies from home and your way of packing cookies will make sure they arrive in one piece. - Heloise
