Etta Egland Genesee, Idaho

Service for Etta Mae Egland, 93, will be today at 1 p.m. at Genesee Valley Lutheran Church. Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow, Idaho, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Egland, who was born in Kansas, died Monday.

She moved to Craigmont, Idaho, in 1921 and farmed in the Genesee Valley after marriage. Mrs. Egland was a homemaker and farmer until moving into Genesee in 1961.

She was a member of Genesee Valley Lutheran Church, Genesee Ladies Aid and the Genesee Garden Club.

Mrs. Egland moved to the Latah Care Center in Moscow in 1992.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harry in 1978.

Survivors include four children, Joan Holst of Oregon, Mike Egland of Boise, Donna Stullick of Hoquiam, Wash., and Wally Egland of Grangeville, Idaho; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Mary Jane Connerley Spokane

Graveside service for Mary Jane Connerley, who died Monday, is scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Connerley, 80, was a 57-year resident of Spokane.

She was born in Polson, Mont., and worked in retail clothing sales.

Mrs. Connerley was a member of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile.

Her husband, Ellis Connerley, died last April.

Survivors include a son, Blaine Connerley of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Patty Kilcup of Spokane; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Marian Perry Spokane

Funeral for Marian Adelaide Perry, 74, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash..

Mrs. Perry, a 40-year resident of Spokane, died Monday.

She was born in English, W.Va., and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Perry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Harvey; three sons, Doug and Bob Perry, both of Puyallup, Wash., and Terry Perry of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Betty Hills of Spokane; a sister, Josie Danner of Newport News, Va.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Hazel Mustard Everett

Funeral for Hazel Alice Mustard, 84, is planned for 10 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - South. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Mustard, who was born in Genesee, Idaho, died Saturday.

In 1930 she married Walter Mustard. They moved to Spokane in 1971. Mrs. Mustard moved to Everett a year ago.

Mrs. Mustard was a homemaker and was a member of several different Lutheran churches.

Her husband died in 1976.

Survivors include a son, Gordon Mustard of Everett; a daughter, Carol Phillips of Spokane; two brothers, Ambrose Foster of Spokane and Irvin Foster of Black Diamond, Wash.; two sisters, Ida Case of Oregon City, Ore., and Charlotte Gardener of Everett; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mabel Cash Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Service for Mabel Elaine Cash, 90, will be July 8 at 1 p.m. at the Bonners Ferry United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cash, who was born in Iowa, died Thursday.

She lived in Montana before moving to Boundary County, where she attended schools.

Mrs. Cash attended Lewiston Normal School. She spent her 43-year teaching career in Bonner and Boundary Counties, retiring in 1970 as a principal and eighth grade teacher at Mount Hall School.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, National Retired Teachers Association and American Association of Retired Persons.

Her husband, George, died in 1969.

Survivors include a niece, Janet Bus of Seattle; and numerous cousins.

Victor Skiles Juliaetta, Idaho

Service for Victor Raymond Skiles, 59, will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow, Idaho. Burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Deary, Idaho.

Mr. Skiles, who died Monday, was born in Moscow.

He attended schools in Moscow and then enlisted in the Navy at age 17. After his military discharge in 1959, Mr. Skiles worked in California for a short time and then returned to Moscow.

He worked as a custodian for Washington State University for several years and did various other jobs and then worked as a custodian for the State Hospital North in Orofino, Idaho, taking medical retirement in 1986.

Mr. Skiles was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Carlene; three sons, Richard and Scott Skiles, both of Deary and Bill Skiles of Juliaetta; his mother, Kay Christopherson of Deary; three sisters, Sherry Ireland and Cathy Leachman, both of Deary, and Willa Geffre of Moscow; a brother, Leonard Dickinson of Seattle; and one grandson, Samuel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Juliaetta-Kendrick Ambulance Fund or Shriners Hospital for Children in Spokane.

Joseph Daniels Spokane

Memorial service for Joseph T. Daniels, 88, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - South.

Mr. Daniels, who was born in Lockwood, Mo., died Monday.

At 14, he moved from Weiser, Idaho, to Payette, Idaho, and graduated from high school there.

In 1943, he and his wife Dorothy moved to Spokane and he owned and managed Swanson Jewelry from 1943 until 1960. From 1960 until his retirement in 1975, Mr. Daniels worked as a manufacturer’s representative for Warner Case Company, Bock-Lewis, Dolan Bullock and Movado Watches.

He was a member of Scottish Rite bodies, the El Katif Shrine, the Westerners and the Exchange Club.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy; a son, Dean Daniels of Reardan, Wash.; a brother, Robert Daniels of Weiser, Idaho; and two grandchildren.

Marjorie Porter Spokane

Memorial service for Marjorie S. Porter, 95, is set for 1 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Porter, who died Sunday, was a 77-year resident of Spokane.

She was born in Marion, Ind., and was a member of the Hand Weavers Guild. She was also a homemaker.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Porter of Spokane; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Nancy Baumann Medical Lake

Memorial service for Nancy N. Baumann is set for 7 p.m. July 18 at the Unitarian Universalist Church. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Baumann, 72, died Saturday. She was born in Dallas.

She received bachelor’s degrees from Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s degree from the University of Wyoming.

Mrs. Baumann taught art at the University of Wyoming and for 10 years taught art classes in Spokane at the YWCA.

She did watercolor paintings and sculpture. She also volunteered as a docent at the art exhibit at Expo ‘74.

Before moving to Spokane, Mrs. Baumann was employed by the Ralston Purina Company and at Kansas University Medical Center, where she worked as a technician in the cancer research laboratory.

She was instrumental in getting Cheney’s Centennial Park designated as a park.

Mrs. Baumann was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, Spokane Water Color Society and was a volunteer for the Candida Environmental Allergy Support Effort in Spokane.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Charles; a daughter, Barbara Baumann of Los Angeles; a son, William Baumann of Reston, Va.; and two sisters, Jan Nelson of St. Louis and Sue Long of Naples, Fla.

Billie Bentley Spokane

Graveside service for Billie A. Bentley, 67, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bentley, who was born in Spangle, died Tuesday.

In 1949, she married John Calhoun and they moved to Spokane.

She was a homemaker and was involved in Girl Scouts for 10 years.

Her first husband and her second husband, Conrad Bentley, and her third husband, Daniel Johnson, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Theresa Weiss and Michele Theriault; a son, Michael Calhoun; six stepdaughters, Judy Heyman, Carol Williams, Sue Renz, Connie Browning, Diane Harden and Deborah Johnson-Blahuczyn; two stepsons, Jerry and Dennis Johnson; three sisters, Betty Fulton, Ruth Jones and Velma Marion; a brother, Elton Hill; six grandchildren and 15 stepgrandchildren.

Anna McMains Chewelah, Wash.

Funeral for Anna Ray McMains, 84, is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah. Burial will follow at Chewelah Memorial Park.

Mrs. McMains, who was born in Miami, Ariz., died Tuesday.

She lived in Joplin, Mo., San Diego, New York City, Los Angeles and Spokane before moving to Chewelah in 1991.

In 1934, she married Milan McMains in New York City, where she worked as a telephone operator.

They moved in 1937 to Los Angeles, where they established a dry cleaning business. That expanded to include a tuxedo rental business and eventually a bridal shop.

Her husband died in 1996.

Survivors include two daughters, Anna Burke of Westminster, Calif., and Martha Kassa of Chewelah; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pauline Thiel Ritzville, Wash.

Visitation for Pauline Thiel, 87, will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Zion Congregational Church in Ritzville. Burial will follow at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Thiel, who was born in Quincy, Wash., died Tuesday.

She graduated in 1929 from Ritzville High School.

Mrs. Thiel was a homemaker and was a member of Zion Congregational Church, Daughters of Zion, Ritzville Chamber of Commerce, Ritzville Festival Association and she served as president of Ritzville Alumni Association in 1954.

Her husband, Lawrence Thiel, died last March.

Survivors include a son, Lamar Thiel of Ritzville; a daughter, Marlene Rutter of Meridian, Idaho; a sister, Molly Sherrer of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Helen Romig Spokane

Funeral for Helen L. Romig, 82, is planned for 2 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park Sunset Chapel. Burial will follow. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 54-year resident of Spokane, Mrs. Romig died Monday. She was born in Idaho.

She worked for Spokane School District 81 for many years as a cook. She was the head cook at Lewis and Clark High School in 1978 when she retired.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Rey; a son, Farrel Romig of Yakima; a daughter, Faye Hamilton of Spokane; two brothers, Richard Sloviaczek of Phoenix and Amor Toman of Walla Walla; a sister, Ann Williams of Spokane; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Frances White Davenport, Wash.

Funeral for Frances L. White, 80, is set for noon today at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. White, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Monday.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and Hillyard Senior Center.

Her husband, Frank White, died in 1983.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Lane of Davenport, and Barbara Steffee and Margaret Harty, both of Phoenix; two sisters, Dorothy Thompson of Spokane and Hazelle Fisher of Bend, Ore.; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
