We’Re On A Roll

If anyone needed proof that the nation’s roads are more crowded, here it is: The number of registered vehicles in the United States has topped 200 million for the first time. “Thirty years after the country’s human population surpassed 200 million, the number of vehicles in operation has done the same,” says Glenn Forbes, of The Polk Co., which tracks such things. Polk says there were just over 201 million cars and trucks registered in the year ended June 30. During the year, 15.29 million new vehicles were registered while 12.51 million used vehicles were presumed scrapped. That’s a net increase of 2.78 million vehicles.
