Idaho elementary and secondary school teachers could get grants of up to $1,000 to improve their teaching of the humanities.

The Idaho Humanities Council’s teacher incentive grants help fund the teaching of literature, oral history and other humanities subjects.

The council is a nonprofit organization funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and by corporate, foundation and individual donations.

Draft proposals are due Aug. 15, with completed applications due Sept. 15.
