Nudists Invite Public To Recreate
Hankering for a little family fun? How about a little swimming, a cookout and a campfire? Just head up Idaho Highway 21 to Robie Creek on Saturday.
Clothing is optional.
The Bare Backers - a group of about 100 Idaho nudists - is inviting the public to visit its 130-acre recreation site in the forest northeast of the city.
It’s part of a nationwide nude recreation day, when nudists all over the country invite the clothed and unclothed alike to experience their lifestyle.
“People are nudist for the same reason people play golf,” said Curt Beringer, a Boise truck driver who has been baring all since 1984. “They share a common area of interest.”
Saturday will be spent swimming and playing horseshoes and volleyball. Beringer said most Bare Backers stick to their beliefs and will not even wear athletic protective equipment.
In fact, the only concession probably will be aprons when cooks fire up the barbecue grills.
“It’s fun,” Beringer said. “But we’re not dumb.”
The group would like those interested in attending to call before they go. The number is (208) 322-6853.
