24-Year-Old Charged With Kidnapping

From Staff

A 24-year-old Coeur d’Alene man has been charged with kidnapping a teenage girl he met at a weekend party.

Prosecutors charged Daniel A. McCullough on Monday with second-degree kidnapping in connection with the incident early Saturday.

The 17-year-old Athol girl told Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies she accepted a ride home from two men she met during a party near North Idaho College. She said the men took her to an abandoned trailer house off Highway 41 and attacked her.

Both men tried to drag her into the trailer, according to a Sheriff’s Department report. They choked her and covered her mouth when she struggled to escape, she said.

Eventually, the girl broke free and ran through a field. She hid under a car until it started getting light and then she summoned help from a nearby house about 5:45 a.m.

The girl suffered several cuts and scrapes, but was not seriously injured.

The second man involved in the alleged attack has not been identified.
