Bonner Mall To Get Staples

Staples will employ up to 40 people at an office supply store scheduled to open in October at the Bonner Mall.

The 24,000-square-foot store will feature more than 7,000 brand name office products, including furniture, computers, software and business machines.

It also will have a “technology center” with in-house technical support for computer upgrades and enhancements, according to company officials in Westborough, Mass.

The Sandpoint location will be Staples’ seventh outlet in Idaho.

The office supplier’s decision to open a Sandpoint store is a coup for the community, said Tom Hix of Tomlinson Black Management of Spokane, which manages the Bonner Mall.

“It’s along the same lines as Wal-Mart and Kmart,” he said.

Staples will serve as one of the mall’s anchors, bringing occupancy in the complex to 91 percent, Hix said.
