Homes Threatened By Windblown Fire
A brush fire threatened to damage several homes Wednesday afternoon before firefighters corralled the blaze.
Firefighters climbed on the roof of at least one home and showered another with water before beating back flames that burned nearby.
A teenager playing with fireworks apparently sparked the fire, reported at Loch Haven Drive and Upland Drive about 12:45 p.m.
The wind picked up shortly after firefighters arrived and blew embers onto a nearby house, sparking a small roof fire, said Mark Dennison, Hayden Lake fire chief. Firefighters quickly snuffed out the flames.
About 26 firefighters needed most of the afternoon to extinguish the -acre fire.
