Bertha Lawson Medford, Ore.
Graveside service for Bertha Elizabeth Lawson, 82, was Thursday at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry.
Mrs. Lawson, who was born in Maine, died Sunday.
She moved to Pendleton, Ore., in 1956 and then attended Walla Walla College in College Place, Wash., studying to become a nursing home dietician.
Mrs. Lawson moved to California in 1961 and continued to study nursing until retiring and moving to Grants Pass, Ore., in 1971.
She then moved to Moyie Springs, Idaho, to work with the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She was a member of the Seventhday Adventist Church.
Her husband, Clarence in 1987, and she moved to Bonners Ferry.
She recently had moved to Medford to be near family.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Ratzel of Iowa; a son, Clarence Lawson Jr. of Oregon; two sisters; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Adelia ‘Dee’ Olson Spokane
Private graveside service for H. Adelia “Dee” Olson, 85, is planned for 3:30 p.m. today at Riverside Memorial Park. Memorial service will be held at a later date at Messiah Lutheran Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Olson, who died Thursday, was a lifetime Spokane resident.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Roy; two daughters, Carole Herrlinger of Spokane and Susan Haworth of San Jose, Calif.; a son, David Olson of Golden, Colo.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Forest Tinney Spokane
Service for Forest “Bud” Tinney, 76, was Monday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Tinney, who was born near Kooskia, Idaho, died July 15.
He served in the Army during World War II in England and participated in the D-Day invasion at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. He was awarded the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
Mr. Tinney then worked for the Idaho County Roads Department for several years. Later he worked in body and fender repair until his retirement.
In 1973 he married Amy Wall and has resided in Spokane for the last 28 years.
His wife died in the early 1990s.
Survivors include a son, Lanny Tinney of Clarkston, Wash.; a daughter, Janet Tinney Brown of Lewiston; a stepson, John Wall of Spokane; a stepdaughter, Francis Skalsky of Seattle; four sisters, Verna Boller and Leona Breen, both of Kooskia, Velda Oswald of Kamiah, Idaho, and Beverly Fergason of Cottonwood, Idaho; a brother, Arnold Tinney of Kooskia; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Alice Smith Spokane
Visitation for Alice R. Smith will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith, who died Monday, was 80. She was born in Denver.
She had been a representative in a Hong Kong missionary group during the 1950s and sponsored the education of several Native American boys in the South.
A Spokane resident for 13 years, Mrs. Smith worked for Postal Data Service for 20 years. She also worked for law firms in Spokane.
There are no surviving family members.
Julia ‘Judy’ Stoner Spokane
Memorial service for Julia E. “Judy” Stoner, 71, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stoner, who died Monday, was born in Ames, Iowa.
She was a 42-year resident of Spokane.
She was a homemaker and worked as a clerk in the dress department at The Crescent department store. She worked at The Bon Marche for 24 years and retired more than a year ago.
Her husband of 38 years, Merlyn Stoner, died in 1983.
Survivors include three daughters, Sheryl Cree, Sandra Rose and Deanne Stoner; three sons, Randy, Ronald and Richard Stoner; a sister, Jeanne Russell; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Orville Septer Kellogg
Memorial service for Orville J. Septer, 71, will be 3 p.m. today at the United Kingdom Hall in Pinehurst, Idaho. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Septer, who was born in Missouri, died Thursday.
He moved to the Silver Valley in 1950 from Missouri and worked as a mine motorman at Bunker Hill and Sunshine mines. He was also a school bus driver for 28 years.
Mr. Septer was a former member of the Lions Club and had been an announcer for the Shoshone Saddle Club.
He was a member of the Pinehurst Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include his wife, Tina; five children, Bill Septer of Spokane, Linda Redden of Coeur d’Alene, Gary Septer of Kamiah, Idaho, Connie Boler of Pinehurst and Jeanie Shields of Coeur d’Alene; two sisters, Marguerite Grinstead and Genevieve Speak, both of California; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Charles Bolen Spokane
Funeral for Charles Bolen, 85, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mr. Bolen, a 25-year resident of Spokane, died Thursday.
He was born in Deer Park and served in the Army.
Mr. Bolen worked as a civil engineer and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Chong; two sons, Terry Bolen of Alaska and Ray Bolen of Vancouver, British Columbia; a brother, Robert Bolen of Spokane; a sister, Elizabath Blount of Spokane; and a grandson.
Charles ‘Nick’ O’Leary Cheney
Memorial service for Charles Nicholas “Nick” O’Leary, 13, will be at 8 a.m. Sunday at Manito Park’s Duncan Gardens. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Charles, who was born in Spokane and was a lifetime resident of Spokane County, died Wednesday.
He attended Mead and Riverside elementary schools and was an avid computer user with many online friends.
Survivors include his parents, Dan and Pam O’Leary of Cheney; a brother, Daniel O’Leary of Cheney; and grandparents, Charles Warner of Nine Mile Falls and Sarah O’Leary of Portland.
Mae Cole Spokane
Graveside service for Mae Sigler Cole, 93, will be at 10 a.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cole, who was born in Creston, Wash., died Wednesday.
She was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Spokane.
Her husband, Eugene, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris McCoy of Spokane; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
