Bomb Removed From Home; Man Arrested

Authorities removed a pipe bomb from a home near Wallace on Tuesday morning and arrested its 18-year-old occupant, deputies said.

Timothy D. Jones of Wallace was booked into the Shoshone County Jail on a charge of possession of a destructive device. Jones also faces an unrelated charge of petit theft.

Shoshone County sheriff’s deputies who had been tipped off about the bomb found the homemade device inside and called the Spokane City-County bomb squad to remove it, said Capt. Charles Angle.

The bomb was built inside a black tube and had other materials attached to it, Angle said. Angle did not identify what those materials were.
