Zephyr Celebrates Original Bloomsday
Bloomsday is not just for running. The original Bloomsday was June 16, 1904, the setting of Irish novelist James Joyce’s “Ulysses.” The Zephyr chamber music series concludes its season with a celebration of Irish music and music inspired by Joyce and his writing.
Zephyr artistic director and pianist Kendall Feeney has uncovered music performed by Joyce (yes, he was a singer, too) as well as vocal and instrumental music based on his stories and poems. Zephyr will perform a program of this music, Tuesday at 8 p.m. at The Met.
Feeney will be joined by Spokane instrumentalists Jan Turley, Bruce Bodden, Tracy Dunlop, Anthony Taylor and Cheryl Carney, singers Heather Peterson and Tod Rainey and Irish poet James McAuley.
Tickets for the Zephyr concert are $12 and $15, $8 for students, available through G&B outlets.
