Mayor Will Resign To Go On Mission

From Staff

Mayor Nile Boyle will resign in September to serve a mission in New Zealand, Tonga and Tahiti for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Boyle was on the city council for 16 years before becoming mayor almost nine years ago. He has three years remaining on his term, so the council will appoint a successor to serve until the next election in 1999.

The two-year mission assignment in the South Pacific for Boyle and his wife, Moana, is expected to involve helping with the church welfare system there.

Besides city government, Boyle works part-time as a pharmacist. His wife teaches English and literature at Ricks College.
