Orville Alteneder Spokane
Visitation for Orville Lee Alteneder, 73, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery.
Mr. Alteneder, who was born in Orofino, Idaho, died Tuesday.
He graduated from Orofino High School in 1942 and served with the Air Force during World War II. After the war, he moved back to Orofino and worked as a lumber grader.
He later moved to Kamiah, Idaho, where he worked for Twin Feather Mill. He then moved to Spokane and worked at White Pine Sash.
Mr. Alteneder was co-founder of Imperial Wood Products, and was president and owner of the Alnorco Inc. He was also co-founder of Dellon Wood Products. He retired three years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; three daughters, Karen Smith of Sacramento, Calif., Salena Haselip of Priest River, Idaho, and Linda Smith of Denver; two sons, Aaron Alteneder of Spokane and Kenneth Alteneder of Phoenix; a brother, Karl Alteneder of Newberg, Ore.; a sister, Myrna Grasser of Orofino; and 14 grandchildren.
Ethel Eaton Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Ethel Louise Eaton, 91, will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Eaton, born in Minnesota, died Thursday. A resident of Coeur d’Alene since 1924, Mrs. Eaton was a volunteer with the American Cancer Association and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
She was also a volunteer at the Kootenai Medical Center’s gift shop and at North Idaho Museum.
Mrs. Eaton was a member of the Community United Methodist Church and past member of the Jewett House board of directors.
Her husband, Jack, died in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Eaton of Vancouver, Wash., and Verne Eaton of Spokane; two brothers, Lloyd Mielke of Missouri and Reyo Mielke of Arizona; and two sisters, Eleanor Robinson of Spokane and Dorothy Wilson of Seattle.
