(From For the Record, June 23, 1998): Service next Monday: The memorial service for Idaho State Police Officer Linda Huff will be held next Monday at Lake City High School. An obituary in today’s In Life section indicates the service has already been held.

Jean Cooper Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for F. Jean ‘Jeannie’ Cooper, 51, will be today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Service will follow at 2 p.m. today at Community United Methodist Church in Coeur d’Alene. Viewing will follow the service until 5:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Cooper, who was born in Pennsylvania, died Friday.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Payette, Idaho and then attended Boise State University for one year before graduating from Treasure Valley Community College with an associate of arts degree in elementary education.

Mrs. Cooper moved to Coeur d’Alene 24 years ago and worked at Kootenai Medical Center for 13 years.

She was a member of Community United Methodist Church and the bell choir and was a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Cooper was also a ceramic artist.

Survivors include her husband, Terry; two sons, Paul Cooper of Post Falls and Sean Cooper of Eureka, Mont.; her parents, Walter and Velma Forsythe of Payette, Idaho; a brother, Jack Forsythe of Payette; and two granddaughters.

Fred Sciuchetti Spokane

Funeral for Fred G. Sciuchetti will be at 1 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private family burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Sciuchetti, who was born in Elk River, Idaho, died Thursday. He was 84.

He worked as a miner, chauffeur, and restaurant and tavern owner, and in the lumber industry. He also was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum after many years.

His wife of 50 years, Rena, preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Sciuchetti of Spokane and Gary Sciuchetti of Mead; six sisters, May Vidmar of Spokane, Jean Stowe of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Mary Ann Gosler, Margie Burrell, Helen Bailey and Betty Jean Howard, all of Kellogg; two brothers, John and Louie Sciuchetti, both of Kellogg; three grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Elsie Hassebrock Hayden Lake, Idaho

Visitation for Elsie Lee Hassebrock, 67, will be today from 6-8 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Hassebrock, who was born in Spokane, died Friday.

She grew up and graduated from Rogers High School in Spokane and moved to Post Falls in 1972.

She was a member of Coeur d’Alene Church of the Nazarene and the Audubon Society.

Her husband, Eugene, died in 1976.

She moved to Hayden Lake in 1994.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda Christanson of Veradale, Wash., Noami Bettis of Hayden Lake, Cindy Peterson of Post Falls and Kristine Hassebrock of Athol, Idaho; a brother, Ronald Moon of Hoquiam, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Charles Parthun Hayden, Idaho

Memorial service for Charles A. Parthun, 76, will be today at 5 p.m. at Hayden Lake Friends Church. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Parthun, who was born in Indiana, died Saturday.

He served with the Army Air Corps in the European Theater during World War II and later worked as a plumber in the construction field. Mr. Parthun moved to Hayden six years ago and was a member of Hayden Lake Eagles Lodge and Hayden Lake Friends Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; a daughter, Linda Taylor of California; a stepson, Jim Steves of Harrison, Idaho; two stepdaughters, Sue Hatley of Texas and Linda Dittle of California; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ala Mae ‘Minnie’ Epler St. Maries

Memorial service for Ala Mae “Minnie” Epler, 49, will be today at 2 p.m. at St. Maries Eagles Lodge. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Epler, who was born in Salmon, Idaho, died Thursday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Worley, Idaho.

She graduated from St. Maries High School and then worked for the National Bank of Alaska in Kenai.

Ms. Eppler returned to St. Maries in 1986 and was a musician playing with several local bands. She recently was in the Silver Rose Band.

She also worked for the University of Idaho as a community action agent and nutritionist.

Survivors include her companion, Barry Caswell of St. Maries; a son, Rance Epler of St. Maries; a brother, Billy Rose of St. Joe City, Idaho; two sisters, Ellen Lauer of St. Maries and Evelyn Bailey of Nampa, Idaho; special friend, Eugene Tisscrand of St. Maries; and five grandchildren.

Linda Huff Post Falls

Memorial service for Linda Carol Huff, 33, was Monday at Lake City High School in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be at 11 a.m. at the Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery in New Plymouth, Idaho. Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel in Payette, Idaho, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Huff, an Idaho State Police officer, was killed in the line of duty Tuesday in Coeur d’Alene.

She was born in Ontario, Ore., and grew up and attended schools in Oregon, where she was active in volleyball, cheerleading, basketball and rodeo and made several all-star teams her senior year.

Mrs. Huff graduated from high school in 1982 and made it to the National Junior Rodeo Finals two years in a row.

She later attended Blue Mountain Community College and was active in rodeo and then took a job at the Payette County Assessor’s office in 1987.

Mrs. Huff joined the Payette County Sheriff’s Office in 1990 and became a patrol officer with the Payette County Sheriff’s Department in 1992.

She had lived in Fruitland, Idaho, and graduated from the Idaho State Police Academy in 1997 and moved to the Post Falls area. She was a trooper in the Coeur d’Alene office.

Survivors include her husband, Chad; two sons, Clinton and Zachary, and a daughter, Rena, all at home; her parents, Ed and Barbara Laughlin; a brother, Mike Laughlin; a sister, Debbie; and several other relatives.

Ruth Pfaff Tekoa, Wash.

Graveside service for Ruth A. Pfaff, 75, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Garfield (Wash.) Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pfaff, who died Saturday, was born in Reardan, Wash.

She graduated in 1941 from Palouse High School and worked as a teller at the Old National Bank in Palouse.

In 1943 she married Elmer Pfaff in Palouse, and they made their home near Garfield, where they farmed.

Mrs. Pfaff was a member of the Garfield Christian Church and the church’s Ladies Aid group. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star, the Ladow Grange and the Garfield Women’s Club. She was a 4-H leader in Garfield, served as a baking judge at the Whitman County Fair and was a member of the Whitman County Mental Health Association.

She was active in the local church bazaar and had written for the Garfield Line, a local paper, for many years.

Mrs. Pfaff moved to Tekoa Care Center four years ago.

Survivors include her husband in Garfield; a son, Les Pfaff of Farmington, Wash.; three daughters, Lorraine Burchfiel of Mica, Lois Pfaff of Cheney and Carol Forman of Golden, Colo.; a sister, Violet Mabton of Potlatch, Idaho; and five grandchildren.
