Gala Set For Nic Wrestlers

Area sports fans are invited to welcome home North Idaho College’s National Junior College Athletic Association wrestling co-champions at 3 p.m. today in Christianson Gym.

The Cardinals, who finished with seven All-Americans, totaled 101.5 points to share the title with Lassen College, the defending national champion.

Although NIC did not have an individual champion, Shaun Williams, Brandon Springer and Trevor Prangley finished second in their weights.

Rookie head coach Pat Whitcomb, himself a former NIC wrestling star, was named NJCAA coach of the year.
