Children who have been bitten by the acting bug now have an outlet for their creativity with the Christian Youth Theater program in Spokane. The nonprofit after-school theater arts program is for kids ages 6 to 18.

Based in San Diego, the program is now offered in nine locations and is in its first year in Spokane.

The program’s spring session of classes will begin March 26. Classes will be available in beginning voice, beginning dance, beginning drama, intermediate drama, and comedy. An “Our Gang” class will offer an introduction to theater for kids ages 6 and 7.

The classes will run from 4 to 6 p.m. each Thursday for 10 weeks at Fourth Memorial Church, 2000 N. Standard. Classes are $99 if the child is registered before March 23, $85 for the “Our Gang” class. A late fee of $10 will be added to all registrations made after March 23. Multiple-child discounts and scholarships are available.

All children age 8 and up who register for classes will be eligible to audition for the program’s production of “Cinderella,” which will be presented May 15-24. The auditions will be held at Fourth Memorial from 4 to 7 p.m. March 27.
