Press Starts For Post Falls Daily Hagadone Seeks To Increase Readership In Kootenai County
Post Falls has a new daily newspaper starting today.
The Hagadone Corp. will publish the Post Falls Press, owner Duane Hagadone announced at the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce meeting Tuesday.
Hagadone treated about 200 chamber members to a salmon lunch and handed out prototype editions of the paper to make his announcement.
“It just shows how much the community’s growing,” City Councilman Clay Larkin said after the meeting.
A new daily paper is just another sign that everything is going well for Post Falls, Mayor Gus Johnson said.
“It’s just another piece of the puzzle that keeps Post Falls on the map,” he said.
Publisher Lila Horvath introduced nine staffers who will work for the Post Falls Press. She said the coverage will augment articles that will remain in the weekly Post Falls Tribune, which the Hagadone Corp. will continue to publish.
The Hagadone Corp. began looking into creating a daily paper in Post Falls a few years ago, said Hagadone, who also owns the Coeur d’Alene Press and the Coeur d’Alene Resort. A daily newspaper is vital for the growth of the community, he said.
Post Falls subscribers to the Coeur d’Alene Press will receive the Post Falls Press automatically.
Hagadone said he had been concerned about the low number of readers in Post Falls.
“Of all the area in the greater Kootenai County area, the readership in Post Falls has the lowest penetration,” he said.
Hagadone also said that keeping the paper local will keep money in North Idaho.
