Shrine Circus Tumbles Into Town

Clowns, pranksters, lions, tigers, rings of fire.

It’s all the makings for either a family reunion or a circus.

Fortunately, it’s the latter.

The Shriner’s El Katif Temple is bringing the George Carden Circus to the Spokane Arena this week for performances Friday through Sunday.

Count on seeing the usual tigers and elephants as well as a host of other animal acts. There’s Buffalo Barney and his Comedy Horse as well as The Pork Chop Review (yes, comedy skits will be performed by swine.) Loter & Company present a host of prancing and parading horses, and Steve Boger will dazzle the audience with his Wild West buffalo show.

As for the humans, they’ll be twisting, contorting and otherwise placing their bodies in all manner of hazardous positions. The Ali Ahmed Tumbling Troupe will … tumble, of course, and The Karimas will perform aerial feats. Speaking of up in the air, The Alextros are “performers from outer space who present aerial feats of mystical and celestial stardom.” I guess you’ll just have to see it to … understand it.

Ms. Natalie and Troupe will dance and twirl while Charles & The Lady perform magic in all three circus rings. And, as if that weren’t enough, don’t miss Steve & Elizabeth, a comedic duo with plenty of puns to share with the audience.

Visit the big top (uh, I mean The Arena) at 7 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday; and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets are $6, $9 and $12, available at G&B Select-a-Seat outlets or call (800) 325-SEAT.
