Man Stabbed In Fight Behind Gibbs Tavern

A stabbing Friday afternoon sent one man to the hospital and his roommate to jail.

Police said the two were fighting on Emma Avenue behind Gibbs Tavern at about 3 p.m. The victim, whose name was not available, tried to leave on a bicycle when his roommate stabbed him, witnesses said.

Larry D. Sweeton, 32, was booked into the Kootenai County Jail on a charge of aggravated battery, a jailer said.

The victim was taken to Kootenai Medical Center with a wound to his left side, said Coeur d’Alene police Capt. Carl Bergh. The wound did not appear to be serious, he said.

Sweeton was arrested after admitting to police that he had fought with the victim, Bergh said.
