Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Readers: A while back I printed a column about ladies using public restrooms and the unpleasant condition some people leave them in.

Boy, did I hit a nerve, and did the letters came in! Most of you expressed the same opinion, that it is pretty disgusting to walk into a restroom and find toilet paper all over the floor, or, worse, the seat wet. I know this isn’t the most pleasant topic but it is one that we all face at one time or another.

I conducted an informal survey and the general feeling is that women should be more considerate.

Here is a poem that may help spread the word.

If you hover, please be discreet, Lift the seat to leave it neat.

If you paper, please look down, Don’t leave a mess all around.

So, for all of you who use public restrooms, please take a few seconds to pick up after yourselves. Also, if you throw trash into a bin or wastebasket and it falls onto the floor, won’t you please take a second of your time and pick it up. If each of us did this, it would make a difference in the long run. - Heloise
