William ‘Ernie’ McGee Metaline Falls, Wash.
Memorial service for William Ernest “Ernie” McGee, 80, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Church of Christ in Metaline Falls. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Metaline Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McGee, who was born in Potlatch, Idaho, died Wednesday.
He graduated in 1936 from Potlatch High School and moved from Moscow, Idaho, to north Pend Oreille County in 1945.
In 1945 he married Mayme Bower in Ione, Wash.
Mr. McGee worked in small mills and sawed at blister rust camps. During World War II he worked several defense jobs, including at the Farragut Naval Station in Bayview, Idaho.
He worked at the Pend Oreille Mine for three years, then at Lehigh Portland Cement for 33 years before retiring in 1982.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, William McGee of Ferndale, Wash., Donald Colegrove of Spokane and Gerald Colegrove of Metaline Falls; a sister, Eileen Moe of Post Falls; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Metaline Falls Fire District or the United Church of Christ.
Jacqueline Voorhies Chewelah, Wash.
Memorial service for Jacqueline Yvette ‘Jackie’ Voorhies, 73, will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Voorhies, who was born in Le Havre, France, died Monday.
She moved to the United States in 1947 as a war bride when she married Henry Peterschick, who later died.
Mrs. Voorhies worked in various occupations, including in a produce plant, as a laundress for the old Holiday Inn, and for a commercial creamery, before she become a homemaker.
She lived in Spokane for almost 30 years before moving to Stevens county 20 years ago, after marrying Wilber Voorhies.
Mrs. Voorhies had been involved in bowling leagues in Spokane and Chewelah.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Randy Peterschick; a daughter, Darlene Fogal; a stepson, Steve; a stepdaughter, Linda; four grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wishing Star Foundation.
Delmer ‘Tex’ Osborn Spokane
Memorial service for Delmer W. “Tex” Osborn, 76, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Knox Presbyterian Church. Burial will precede at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Osborn, who was born in Battle Creek, Neb., died Thursday.
He graduated from high school in Nebraska and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
In 1949 he married Lila Engel in Oakland, Calif., and they moved to Spokane.
He retired in 1981 from Burlington Northern Railroad after 32 years as a clerk.
Mr. Osborn was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church and the Transportation Communications International Union.
After retirement, he dedicated all his time to volunteer work which included the American Field Service, the Spokane International Exchange Council, SIDS Foundation, the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, Omega, the Spokane Food Bank and the Westminster Food Bank.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Margaret Holdridge of Spokane and Marilyn Tara of Anaheim, Calif.; a son, Gerald Osborn of Spokane; a brother, Dale Osborn of Battle Creek; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox Presbyterian Church Deacons Fund.
James Beck Spokane
No service will be held for James G. Beck, 60, at his request. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Beck, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Tuesday.
Prior to opening J and J Radiator in North Spokane, he was employed by the city of Spokane waterworks, at Ziegler Lumber and as an independent trucker.
During his years with the city of Spokane he was active as the scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 227 and in the Logan Elementary Parent-Teacher Association.
Mr. Beck built and operated several racing cars throughout the northwest and most recently was involved with Stateline Speedway as a crew chief, sponsor, tech official and push truck operator.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; 12 children, several brothers and sisters, 30 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or the Chaplain Division of the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department.
