Tergat, O’Sullivan Victorious
Kenya’s Paul Tergat won his record-tying fourth straight title at the World Cross Country Championships, while Ireland’s Sonia O’Sullivan won her second race in two days.
Tergat, clocked in 34 minutes, 1 second, finished 5 seconds ahead of teammate Paul Koech.
O’Sullivan won her second gold medal in less than 24 hours, taking the women’s 4,000-meter (2.5-mile) race by 14 seconds. On Saturday, she won the 8,000 (5-mile) event.
