‘Continue To Work For A Better Future’

Jeff Alltus

COVER LETTER

I have appreciated the privilege of serving the people of Idaho in the Legislature.

Four years ago I ran on a platform of more-efficient government, better schools and a better job climate so our children do not have to move away to find good-paying jobs.

In the past four years, Gov. Batt and the Legislature have stopped the growth of state government. Before 1994, the number of state employees was growing by 700 employees per year. Since 1994, that growth has been frozen. Beyond that, we have passed legislation that has cut $225 million from property taxes.

Seventy percent of all state general fund dollars in Idaho are spent on education. We have passed legislation to create charter schools and to allow dual enrollment for high school students.

We have cut more than $30 million per year from unemployment taxes. That is $30 million that can be used to hire more workers and pay them better.

I supported all of this legislation. I have done what I said I would do.

I have successfully sponsored bills to lower insurance premiums, protect shooting ranges, protect women who have been raped and protect voters at the polls.

I’m a legislator who reads every bill. It is a lot of work, but it is my commitment to people I represent.

I am running for re-election because I want to continue to work for a better future.
