‘I Have The Experience And Common Sense’

Wayne Meyer

COVER LETTER

I am writing to you asking for your continued support as state representative of District 2.

During the four years that you have allowed me to represent you in Boise, I have worked on several different issues ranging from education to the environment.

Twenty-two years as a high school basketball referee have laid a firm foundation for working with and understanding teachers, students and parents. I feel that knowledge has been helpful to me while serving on the House Education Committee. I worked on the bill that allows high school juniors and seniors to take college courses and receive both high school and college credits.

I served on the interim committee for charter schools during summer 1997, which passed into law this session.

After meeting with concerned citizens of the area, I helped draft the Float Home Residency Act for those people who own float homes on Coeur d’ Alene and Pend Oreille lakes. I also worked on legislation establishing a notification time line and methods of notification should health problems arise with a domestic water system. Both pieces of legislation were signed into law in April.

One bill that passed both houses was the appropriation of state funds for the Spokane-Rathdrum Aquifer protection program, which was later vetoed by Gov. Batt.

I have gained the respect of my fellow legislators to the degree that I was selected vice chairman of the House Business Committee in my second term. I have just recently been appointed by Gov. Batt to serve as a board of director for the State Insurance Fund.

I have the experience and common sense, when dealing with problems, that best qualifies me for the position of state representative.

With your support and vote on May 26, I’d like to return to Boise and continue representing you, the voters of District 2.
