Mandir Will Perform At The Met
The Montana group Mandir is bringing its brand of acoustic world music to Spokane for a performance at the Met at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.
Mandir, formerly the Matthew Marsolek Group, has been performing since 1994. They took their new name from the Sanskrit word for “temple.”
The group’s sound comes from musical influences out of West Africa and India, as well as jazz, folk and classical music.
The group is composed of Matthew Marsolek, classical and acoustic guitars and voice; Lawrence Duncan, soprano saxophone, bassoon, flutes, harp and voice; Beth Youngblood-Petersen, violin and voice; and Michael Marsolek, world percussion, didgerdoo and voice.
The ensemble is on tour to promote its newest release, “Out Beyond Ideas,” which was released in April. Matthew Marsolek composed all 10 of the pieces on the album.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children age 12 and under, available at Street Music, Moon Shadow, G&B Select-a-Seat outlets or call (800) 325-SEAT. Tickets will also be available at the door for $12.
