‘Hands-On Experience As Treasury Manager’

Barbara Bauer

Cover letter

This year, you elect a new treasurer to manage the state’s technical treasury functions. I am running for state treasurer because my experience, education and knowledge directly match the duties of state treasurer.

As state treasurer, I will function from a position of strength, at the top of the learning curve, because I’ve spent the last 12 years handling the same responsibilities as treasurer of Idaho’s next-largest governmental unit - Ada County. I personally invest Ada County’s portfolio and I have hands-on experience as an efficient, professional treasury manager, returning unspent money at the end of every budget year.

By spending time in every county in Idaho each year, I will make state government responsive to the concerns of all Idaho citizens and make the state treasurer’s office a financial and technical resource for state departments and local governments.

I am a strong fiscal conservative with a proven track record of actual experience, managing a lean, efficient, service-oriented office with actual tax savings. That is real-world experience of working within government to meet your needs at the lowest possible cost.

As the only candidate who has lived in North Idaho, has graduated from the University of Idaho or has direct treasury experience, making investments and managing government funds, I am the most-qualified candidate for state treasurer.

I really enjoy serving as treasurer, and it is a job I am good at. Now, because I know that you are the boss, I am asking you to promote me to state treasurer.
