Parade Goes To Invitations

The annual Fourth of July Parade is now invitation only.

The parade committee sent out about 150 invitations this week for the American Heroes Invitational Parade.

Coordinator Kate Absec said the parade is for entertainment and becoming invitational gives organizers more discretion over who and what inches through the city streets.

“It becomes an entertainment feature and not just a bunch of cars going down the street,” Absec said. “It helps with the election year ‘vote for me’ cars.”

People interested in participating in the July parade should contact the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce.

The commerce recently adopted the nonprofit organization that has planned the annual July 4 parade.

Celebrate Coeur d’Alene Inc. merged with the chamber to provide people with year-round information about the parade.

“It’ll help us have an active committee to work on it year-round to have a successful parade,” Absec said.

The parade committee will announce the grand marshal in June.
