‘We Must Create A Shared Vision’

Ginny Hughes

Cover letter

My continued commitment to children’s issues over the past two decades has led to my wish to serve as your next school board trustee. I have served on numerous education and youth-related boards and committees at both the local and state level.

My areas of expertise are my strong personal and professional ethics, my dedication, self-motivation, successful interpersonal skills, and passion to support the strengths in all students.

As your link to the school district’s administration, I am confident that with your input we can build a responsive system to fit our emotional, physical, social and intellectual needs. A system where all students will have an equal opportunity to learn and realize their individual gifts and talents.

I will work tirelessly to help promote community input that will result in sound decisions and meaningful changes in our schools. I recognize that my responsibility to you and your children is not to run schools but, together with my fellow board members, to see that they are well run.

There are four key concepts that I believe define the trustee’s duties in overseeing education: vision, structure, accountability, and advocacy. I believe we must create a shared vision, adopt goals, policies and a budget in harmony with that vision, continually assess the effectiveness of the current policies and serve as advocates for life-long learning by establishing positive and respectful relationships with our students and their families, which will help us to identify the challenging and changing educational needs of our school children.

Education is a process of shared decision-making. Vote for me on May 19 and let’s begin the process. Thank you.
