Team To Present Vision For Hayden

From Staff Reports

A group of volunteers hoping to shape Hayden’s future want to attract businesses. But they don’t want to lose the “village” feel of the Kootenai County community.

The Community of Hayden Action Team will present its ideas at a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. May 28, at Hayden Meadows Elementary School.

“We would like the village to be full service, more than a bedroom community, with jobs in retail and manufacturing and services,” according to the team’s vision statement.

Multi-story buildings would be out; open space would be in.

The team’s goals for the next two years include a recreation department, revitalization of Government Way, from Honeysuckle to Hayden Avenue; a community pool and senior center.

Eventually, team members hope to extend the downtown revitalization, build up an airport industrial complex and build a multi-sport facility.

More information is available from Nancy Taylor at Hayden City Hall.
