Blood Center Needs To Stock Up Supply

From Staff

The Inland Northwest Blood Center needs to stockpile blood for the holiday weekend, Libby Granier, its Coeur d’Alene director, said Wednesday.

The center usually collects blood over weekends, but will be closed for Memorial Day weekend so it needs to increase the supply before Saturday.

Granier said accidents typically increase over holiday weekends and the blood center wants to be prepared.

“Recreational activities keep the emergency room busy which keeps the blood center busy,” she said.

The bloodmobile will have a special drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the Rosauer’s parking lot. Granier said the center especially needs type O positive and negative, B negative and AB positive and negative, but will take all donations.

Appointments aren’t necessary, but are suggested. Call 667-5461.
