Leah Worsfold Kellogg

Service for Leah E. Worsfold, 85, will be at 11 a.m. today at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pinehurst, Idaho. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Worsfold, who was born in Almira, Wash., died Tuesday.

She grew up in the Silver Valley and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Charles died in 1978.

Survivors include seven daughters, Charlotte Oberg of Clarkston, Wash., Marsha Fleshman and Nicki Ruffier, both of Silverton, Idaho, Billie Erickson of Lewiston, Nancy Standridge of Pinehurst, and Andrea Miller and Barbara Bren, both of Medical Lake; two brothers, Leland Stowe of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Jim Stowe of Harrison, Idaho; 27 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Edward Castagne Spokane

Funeral for Edward Joe Castagne, 86, will be at 10 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Castagne, who was born in Red Lodge, Mont., died Monday.

He served as the sheriff of Lincoln County, Mont., for 17 years. After his retirement in 1969 he moved to Spokane.

Mr. Castagne was a member of Hillyard Senior Center and was an election officer for many years.

Survivors include his wife Catherine; a son, James Castagne of Prosser, Wash.; a daughter, Shirley Denny of Livingston, Mont.; two stepdaughters, Gayle Johnson and Kay McManamon, both of Greenacres; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Roberta Garrett Metaline Falls, Wash.

Rosary service for Roberta Marie Garrett, 71, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Metaline Falls Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 4:30 p.m. at Selkirk High School in Ione, Wash., following the burial. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Garrett, a lifetime resident of Metaline Falls, Wash., died Sunday.

She graduated from Metaline Falls High School in 1944 and went on to obtain a nursing degree at Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1948.

Mrs. Garrett worked as a nurse at the Mount Linton Hospital in Metaline Falls, where she also served as hospital administrator for more than 25 years. In 1947 she married David Garrett in Spokane.

Mrs. Garrett served as a board member for the North Pend Oreille Hospital Association, the Northeast Washington Health Program and Northeast Washington Health Project.

She was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliaries, the Metalines Garden Club and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Susan Huntley and Nancy Kiss, both of Metaline Falls, Eileen Deadmarsh of Fruitvale, British Columbia and Rebecca Moak of Richland; a son, Tom Garrett of Newport; three sisters, Germaine Weaver of Spokane, Patricia Kinney of Metaline Falls and Eileen Gilbert of Tacoma; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the House of Charity, the Morning Star Boy’s Ranch, or Immaculate Heart Retreat House, all of Spokane, or the North Pend Oreille County EMT Association.

Bernice (Pontsler) Parker Spokane

Visitation for Bernice A. (Pontsler) Parker, 96, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Ephrata (Washh.) City Cemetery.

Mrs. Parker, a longtime Spokane area resident, died Monday. She was born in Frankfurt, Ohio.

She was a homemaker.

Her husband of 25 years, Harry, died in 1945.

Survivors include six daughters, Alyce Hamilton of Spokane, Barbara Parker of Deer Park, Fern Walton of Rathdrum, Idaho, Evelyn Sublie of Kettle Falls, Wash., Frances Broadbent of Carmichael, Calif., and Doris Siever Kropp of Ephrata; a son, John Parker of Cheney; 22 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Jon Daub Post Falls

Memorial service for Jon Russell Daub, 59, will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Daub, who was born in Pennsylvania, died Tuesday following an extended illness.

He lived in Spokane and then attended high school in Seattle before working for the railroad and Boeing as a machine specialist.

Mr. Daub started his own metal manufacturing business in Seattle. He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1976 and continued the business.

He later moved to Post Falls.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Jody; a son, Adam Daub of Post Falls; a daughter, Lori Richardson of Lewiston; a sister, Carole Costa of Hayden, Idaho; and three brothers, William Daub of California, Alan Daub of Bellevue and Thomas Daub of Seattle.

Rocco Mediati Spokane

Funeral Mass for Roccu U. Mediati, 63, is planned for 8 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mediati, who was born in Cirella, Italy, died Sunday.

In 1956 he married Maria Polito in Cirella.

Mr. Mediati, a Spokane resident for 41 years, worked for the Wonder Bread Bakery for 35 years.

He was a member of St. Aloysius Parish, American Italian Club, the Sons of Italy and Eagles Lodge No. 2.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rocco Mediati of Spokane and Mario Mediati of Salt Lake City; two daughters, Alisa Lydon and Antonella Mediati, both of Seattle; his stepmother, Fiolmena Gelonese of Cirella; two brothers, Alfredo Mediati of Locri, Italy, and Armando Mediati of Ardori, Italy; three sisters, Maria Laropoly of Cirella, Emma Mediati of Sydney, Australia, and Lucia Polito of San Diego; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Ora McKnight Spokane

Funeral Mass for Ora A. McKnight, 85, will be at 9 a.m. today at St. Paschal Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McKnight, who was born in Union Town, Wash., died Sunday.

She was a member of St. Paschal Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Mrs. McKnight was a homemaker and was a resident of Spokane since 1933.

Survivors include a son, Wayne McKnight of Spokane; a brother, Walter Heitstuman of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paschal School or St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.

Doris Pratt Kingston, Idaho

Service for Doris F. Pratt, 67, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Pratt, who died May 18, was born in Missouri.

She moved to the Silver Valley in the 1940s from Missouri and worked as a custodian for School District 331 before retiring in 1992.

Mrs. Pratt was a member of the Our Day Out Club in Cataldo and the Kootenai Amateur Radio Society.

Her husband, Ward, died in 1992.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Chamberlain of Coeur d’Alene and Jackie Reeves of Olalla, Wash.; a sister, Dorothy Alshire, and a brother, Floyd Morris, both of Missouri; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Johnny Rauch Hermiston, Ore.

Funeral for Johnny G. Rauch, 78, will be at 2 p.m. today at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Waterville (Wash.) Cemetery.

Mr. Rauch, who was born in Clarkston, Wash., died Monday.

He served in the Army during World War II and, in 1941, married Etta Buse in Douglas, Wash.

Mr. Rauch worked as a meat cutter in Waterville, Wenatchee and Davenport, Wash. He also operated a grocery store and meat market in Entiat, Wash., for several years. He was a resident of Davenport for 20 years.

He moved to Hermiston 20 years ago.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Connie Hutsell of Ritzville, Wash., and Jacquie Hansen of Hermiston; a sister, Marge Swart of Ephrata, Wash.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.

Helen Ahrendt Spokane

Graveside service for Helen J. Ahrendt, 75, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ahrendt, who was born in Cheney, died May 22.

She graduated from Rogers High School and worked in security at The Crescent department store.

Mrs. Ahrendt was a member of Calvary Chapel.

Survivors include two daughters, Billie Thomas of Spokane and Sharon Finney of Portland; a brother, Roy Fry of Rosalia, Wash.; two sisters, Margie Fullerton of Lewiston and Betty Jane Dimock of Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Emma Webberding Pinehurst, Idaho

Service for Emma Webberding, 70, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel.

Ms. Webberding, who was born in Nebraska, died Saturday.

She lived in Toppenish, Wash., before moving to the Silver Valley in 1965.

Ms. Webberding was a cook at the Rose Lake Elementary School.

Survivors include four sons, William Webberding of Coeur d’Alene, Gene Webberding of Smelterville, Idaho, Tim Webberding of Colorado and Pat Webberding of Nevada; a daughter, Bobbi Hilt of Coeur d’Alene; three sisters, Marie Sterkel and Lydia Davis, both of Colorado, and Margaret Bonesteel of Libby, Mont.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Father Richard Sisk, S.J. Spokane

Funeral Mass for Father Richard Sisk S.J. will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Michael’s Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Father Sisk, who was born in Spokane, died Sunday. He was 81.

He graduated from Gonzaga Preparatory School in 1935 and then from Gonzaga University in 1939 with a degree in philosophy.

Father Sisk then moved to Sheridan, Ore., where he entered the novitiate of the Society of Jesus in 1939. Following the Jesuit course of studies he completed the novitiate in 1942 and came back to Spokane to study at Mount Saint Michael’s.

From Spokane he worked toward his goal of ordination, teaching at Gonzaga Prep from 1945 to 1948.

Father Sisk then went to Los Gatos, Calif., to pursue his theological studies at Alma College from 1948 to 1952. He was ordained in St. Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco in 1951.

His advanced degrees include a bachelor of sacred theology from Alma College, a master’s degree in philosophy from Gonzaga University, and a master’s degree in history from Fordham University.

Father Sisk pronounced his final vows in 1955.

He taught at Gonzaga Prep from 1956 to 1960 and at Gonzaga University from 1963 to 1978.

Survivors include two brothers, Jim and Bud Sisk and a sister, Pat Ripple.
