Airport Activity Down From 1997

Passenger activity at Spokane International Airport was down slightly in September compared with the same month last year.

Some 231,199 passengers got on and off airplanes during the month, down 3.44 percent from the previous year. Year-to-date passenger totals are down 3.48 percent from the first nine months of 1997.

However, cargo handling continues to rise at Spokane International. During September, the airport handled 5,156.2 tons of cargo, up 14.16 percent from September 1997. The year-to-date cargo figure is 8.75 percent higher than nine-month year-ago totals.

Total operations at Felts Field were up almost 1 percent during September, while cargo handled was down almost 12 percent.
