Louis Chesurin Spokane
Funeral Mass for Louis A. Chesurin, 80, will be at 9:30 a.m. today at St. Charles Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Chesurin died Thursday.
He was a carpenter and was a member of St. Charles Parish and Carpenters Union 98.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Imelda; a daughter, Linda Sliepen of Citrus Heights, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Carlson and Josephine Brousseau, both of Spokane; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Larry Moon Spokane
Visitation for Larry C. Moon, 74, will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Seneaquateen Cemetery northeast of Priest River, Idaho. Memorial service is planned for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Opportunity Christian Church.
Mr. Moon, who was born in Kellogg, died Tuesday.
He served with the Army at Fort Meade, Md., during World War II.
For 35 years Mr. Moon worked for Leo’s Camera Shop and assembled a collection of work reflecting the nature’s grandeur. His pictures were published on the cover of Life magazine and in natural history and Jacques Cousteau’s publications.
His work has been showcased on calendars by National Geographic, Hallmark greeting cards, picture puzzles, encyclopedias and film strips.
He has earned more than 100 medals and several ribbons in international exhibitions.
Mr. Moon was a member the Spokane Mushroom Club, the Spokane Valley Camera Club since 1952 and the Photographic Society of America, which he served as the organizing chairman for the Inland Empire Chapter in 1969 and in 1981, was named a Fellow.
Survivors include his mother, Beulah Moon of Spokane; and a sister, Virginia Glabb of Priest River.
Stephen Ross Spokane
Memorial service for Stephen B. Ross, 51, will be a 1 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home.
Mr. Ross, who was born in Los Angeles, died Thursday.
He graduated from the University of Southern California at Berkeley.
He served with the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Ross was a certified public accountant and operated his own practice at the time of his death.
In 1987 he married Susan Cross.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter Elissa Ross at home; a son, Michael Ross of Seattle; and a sister, Linda Krauss of Danville, Calif.
Daniel Deasy Jr. Spokane
Memorial service for Daniel A. Deasy Jr., 57, will be today at 4 p.m. at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South.
Mr. Deasy, who was born in San Francisco, died Wednesday.
He worked as a digital imaging technician for Century Publishing in Spokane from 1967 to 1985. He retired in 1997.
He lived in Pocatello, Idaho, and California after retiring and recently returned to Spokane.
Mr. Deasy was a member and former president of the Type Setters Union.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda; three daughters, Kelly and Kerry Deasy, and Erika Aydelott, all of Spokane; a brother, John Deasy of Los Angeles; and a grandson.
Charlotte Birnel Spokane
Funeral for Charlotte R. Birnel, 89, will be at 11 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
A 60-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Birnel died Wednesday. She was born in Astoria, Ore.
In 1927 she graduated from Garibaldi High School in Oregon and worked at Kaiser Aluminum Trentwood rolling mill during World War II.
Mrs. Birnel was homemaker and a 25-year member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Francis “Don” Pintler of Yakima and Adrian “Buzz” Pintler of Lynnwood, Wash.; four daughters, Jacqualine Perry of Spokane, Eileen Pernar and Shirley Lukhang, both of Seattle, and Barbara West of Princeton, Idaho; a sister, Myrtle St. Onge of Portland; a brother, Kenneth Arnold of Cathlamet, Wash.; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church.
Harold ‘Bert’ Rickey Spokane
Funeral for Harold B. “Bert” Rickey, 78, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 401 W. Regina. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rickey, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Thursday.
He served in the Army during World War II and worked for the Great Northern Railway, which later became Burlington Northern Railroad, for 42 years. He retired in 1978.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Eva; two daughters, Sharron Cotter and Patty Book, both of Spokane; two sons, David and Harold Rickey Jr., both of Henderson, Nev.; a sister, Helen Burns of Spokane; four brothers, Pat Rickey Sr. of Spokane, Lee Rickey of Deer Park, Gene Rickey of Hayden, Idaho, and Vern Rickey of Arizona; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
