Gary Beck Cheney
Funeral for Gary Beck, 54, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Marshall Cemetery. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
A 23-year Spokane resident, Mr. Beck died Tuesday in a helicopter crash. He was born in Santa Barbara, Calif.
He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, and a master’s degree from University of California at Santa Barbara.
Mr. Beck had owned and operated Gary’s Air Service since 1981. He was involved in power line construction and patrol, and participated in game surveys in Washington and Idaho. He also worked for the Department of Natural Resources.
Mr. Beck was a licensed commercial pilot for fixed-winged planes and helicopters.
He was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Arctic Institute of North American, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and was past president of Marshall Community Coalition. He participated in the Big Brother and Big Sister program.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Libby; his father, Don Beck of Arizona; a sister Kathy Riggs of Cheney; and a brother, Reg Beck of Santa Ynez, Calif.

Louise (Kelly) Zuger Spokane
Funeral Mass for Louise K. (Kelly) Zuger, 84, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 21-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Zuger, died Nov. 8. She was born in Starbuck, Wash.
She graduated from St. Vincent Academy in Walla Walla and in 1931 married Fred Gouch. They later divorced.
In 1943 she moved to Waitsburg, Wash., and worked at Allens Grocery Store for two years. She married Arthur Zuger in 1945 and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Zuger was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Spokane County Wheat Growers Association, Washington State Extension Homemakers, Peone Homemakers and Ladies Elks.
Her husband died in 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Zuger of Walla Walla and David Gouch of Bothell, Wash.; two daughters, Marie Feryn of Mead and Margaret Fischer of Fredericksburg, Va.; two sisters, Helen Schaal of Yakima and Marguerite Gould of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Kathryn (McDonald) Epton Spokane
Funeral Mass for Kathryn R. (McDonald) Epton, 86, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Epton, who was born in Garwood, Idaho, died Thursday.
She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1929 and married Dr. John Epton in 1935.
In 1956 Mrs. Epton won a seat in the Washington State House of Representatives and served four terms for the 4th Legislative District from 1957-63 and 1965-67. Mrs. Epton initiated legislation to improve conditions for the disabled.
In 1962, she founded the Merry Glen Home and School for the handicapped. She was co-founder of the Washington chapter of the Easter Seal Society and received a degree in sociology from Gonzaga University.
Her husband died in 1975.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Epton of Tacoma and Michael Epton of Seattle; two daughters, Mary Sherwood of Spokane and Constance Beaumont of Arlington, Va.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Guild School or Hospice of Spokane.
Otis Lowe Steptoe, Wash.
Funeral for Otis Lowe, 88, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery.
Mr. Lowe, who was born in Oak Point, Wash., died Wednesday.
He graduated from Colfax High School in 1930 and married Gala Frederick in 1937.
Mr. Lowe began farming in the Greenhollow area near Colfax in 1937. He retired in 1984.
He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge and the Parvin Grange near Colfax.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Willard Lowe of Nordman, Idaho; a daughter, Corrine Lowe of Pomeroy, Wash.; a sister, Jean Dixon of Colfax; two granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

Lowell White Spokane
Memorial service for Lowell Gehman White, 90, will be held at a later date. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. White, who was born in Springfield, Mo., died Wednesday.
In 1937 he moved to the Wenatchee Valley and later moved to Spokane, where he worked for Brush Harley-Davidson.
Survivors include his wife, Ella-Marie; two sons, Gordon White of Sandpoint and Michael White; two daughters, Sue Green of Spokane and Myrene McFarland of Seattle; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockwood Retirement Community in Spokane.
Kathryn (Samuels) Adams Greenacres
Funeral Mass for Kathryn Lynn (Samuels) Adams, 34, will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1503 W. Dean. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Adams, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.
She graduated from North Central High School in 1982 and worked at Ray’s Print Shop and the Alpine Motel. She was also a homemaker.
Mrs. Adams was a member of the Spokane Tribe.
Survivors include her husband of 10 years, Timothy; two sons, Brandon Rose and Timothy Adams II, both at home; two daughters, Kami Rose and Sunshine Adams, both at home; two sisters, Debbie and Donna Samuels, both of Spokane; her grandmother, Evelyn Rasmussen of Spokane; and three brothers, David and Thomas Samuels, both of Spokane, and Daniel Samuels of West End, Wash.
William Macomber Othello, Wash.
No services will be held for William Granville Macomber, 88, at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Macomber, who was born in Salinas, Calif., died Sunday. In 1943 he married Aletha Beebe and served as a cook with the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Macomber moved to Spokane in 1946, and worked as a welder and iron worker for many years. He retired from the electroplating department of Columbia Lighting in the late 1970s.
He was a member of the Rabbit Breeders Association.
His wife died in 1993 and in 1998 he moved in Othello, Wash.
Survivors include a son, Bill Macomber of Moses Lake; a daughter, Judy Roger of Gladstone, Ore.; a sister, Marie Splittstosser of California; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Robert Sater Templeton, Calif.
Funeral for Robert K. Sater, 63, will be at 2 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mr. Sater, who was born in Spokane, died Oct. 9.
He received his master’s degree from Cal-Poly University.
In 1986 he moved to Templeton and taught engineering and industrial technology at Cal-Poly until his retirement in 1997.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; four sons, Patrick Sater of Spokane, Thomas Sater of Gig Harbor, Wash., Robert Sater of San Jose, Calif., and Lindy Evanoff of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Marguerite Cameron of Glendale, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Lewis Simpson Spokane
Funeral for Lewis P. Simpson, 49, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Simpson died Tuesday.
He graduated from North Central High School in 1968 and worked as a housekeeper at Home Health Care and also as a janitor for various nursing homes for several years.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God.
Survivors include five brothers, Harry and Fred Simpson, both of Spokane, LeRoy Smith of Seattle, Glen Simpson of Steubenville, Ohio, and John Simpson of Oakland, Calif.; two sisters, Sara Glott of Spokane and Maryann Embler of Sandpoint.
Henry Anderson Spokane
Graveside service for Henry W. Anderson, 76, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Union-Pleasant Prairie Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
An 11-year resident of Spokane, Mr. Anderson died Tuesday. He was born in Jefferson, S.D.
He served in the Navy during World War II and worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for several years.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Fern; a stepdaughter, Dorothy DeGon of Spokane; two stepsons, Robert and James Rise, both of Oroville, Wash.; a sister Mable Smith of Des Moines, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ella Borunda Spokane
No service will be held for Ella Mae Borunda, 70, at her request. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.
A 53-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Borunda, died Wednesday. She was born in Harrison, Idaho.
She worked at Galena (Fairchild Air Force Base) during World War II doing office work, and was a homemaker.
Her husband, Ray, died in 1992.
Survivors include two sisters, Betty Glidden and Norene Harlow, both of Spokane.

Fraser Parsons Spokane
Memorial service for Fraser W. Parson, 81, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 38-year Spokane resident, Mr. Parsons died Wednesday. He was born in Trail, British Columbia.
He worked in food sales for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona; and a daughter, Lynn Parsons of Alamo, Calif.
