Violinist Performing Beethoven Concerto

Violinist Leila Josefowicz made her national debut on TV when she was 10. Now 21, Josefowicz has made the step from child prodigy to young artist to critical acclaim for her concerts and recordings. She will perform as soloist in Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with the Spokane Symphony at the Opera House tonight.

Also on tonight’s program, Fabio Mechetti will conduct the orchestra and the Symphony Chorale in Bach’s Cantata No. 4 (“Christ lag in Todesbanden”) and Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms” with boy soprano Jimmy Wittrock.

Lori Wiest, the Symphony Chorale’s newly-appointed director, will discuss the music on tonight’s program at 7 p.m. in the Opera House auditorium as a part of the Gladys Brooks Pre-Concert Talks series.

The Spokane Symphony concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $14 to $30 and are available at the Symphony box office, 624-1200, and G&B, 325-SEAT or (800)325-SEAT.
