Jack Frost Spokane

Visitation for Jack E. Frost, 71, will be from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A 67-year Spokane resident, Mr. Frost died Monday. He was born in Tillamook, Ore.

He served with the Army from 1941 until 1946, and in 1948 married Betty Russell.

Mr. Frost worked as a brick layer and was a member of the Brick Layers and Allied Crafts Union Local No. 3 for 50 years.

He was also a member of the Moscow (Idaho) Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Betty; a son, Jack Frost Jr., of Albany, Ore.; two daughters, Nancy Frost of San Francisco and Patricia Frost of Issaquah, Wash.; a brother, Harold Frost of Titusville, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Hazel Treffry Spokane

Visitation for Hazel Ann Treffry, 89, will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Treffry, who was born in Spokane, died Sunday.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and attended Kinman Business College.

Mrs. Treffry retired from working as an accountant for the federal government for many years.

She was a member of the Corbin Senior Center, the Swedish Club, the Vasa Order of America, the Business and Professional Women’s Association, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Civilian Women of Fairchild Air Force Base.

Her husband, Ralph, preceded her in death.

Survivors include four cousins, Carole Herrlinger of Spokane, David Olson of Golden, Colo., Susan Haworth of San Jose, Calif., and Byron Bisonnette of Baton Rouge, La.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lupus Society.

Wanda Ostrom Spokane

Celebration of life for Wanda Caroline Ostrom, 74, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at 843 Whiskey Jack Road in Kootenai, Idaho. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ostrom, who was born in Nebraska, died Monday.

She moved to Kootenai near Sandpoint in 1928 and attended Kootenai School. She later lived in Portland and Seattle before returning to Kootenai in 1965.

Mrs. Ostrom worked for the state of Idaho as a home health aide for 15 years and received special recognition from the state for her dedication. She retired in 1981.

She later moved to Spokane and was a member of the Kootenai Community Church.

Survivors include seven children, Ed Ostrom Jr. and Ella Ackerlund, both of Sandpoint, Paul and Shelia Ostrom, and Cheryl Berry, all of Seattle, and Calvin and Francie Ostrom, both of Spokane; three brothers, Walter “Dutch” and Dennis Hamann, both of Kootenai, and Donald “Joe” Hamann of California; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Kathleen Storms Plummer, Idaho

Service for Kathleen E. Storms, 87, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Plummer Community Bible Church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Plummer. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Storms, who was born in Plummer, died Monday.

She graduated from Plummer High School in 1927 and then worked as a substitute mail carrier, starting out on horseback. She continued as a mail carrier and retired in the early 1980s.

Mrs. Storms married Carl “Shorty” Storms in 1931. He died in 1979.

She had worked as a cook for many years at area restaurants, including Leo’s Worley Club, the Highway Cafe and the Rocky Point Lodge.

Mrs. Storms also served dinners aboard Capt. John Finney’s Seeweewana cruise boat.

She was a member of the Plummer Grange and Community Bible Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Freeburg, Peggy Blackburn and Carla Hendrickx, all of Plummer; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Myrtle Franklin Spokane

Private inurnment for Myrtle E. Franklin, 68, will be held at a later date at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Franklin, who was born in St. Ignatius, Mont., died Sunday.

She was a 45-year Spokane resident.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter, all of Spokane; three sisters and two brothers; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Herbert Lozier Spokane

Memorial service for Herbert L. Lozier, 79, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at South Hill Bible Church. Burial will be in Olympia on Monday.

Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A longtime Spokane resident, Mr. Lozier died Monday. He was born in Olympia.

He served as a yeoman with the Navy during World War II and retired as an administration officer.

Mr. Lozier was a member of the Spokane East Camp Gideons International, the Washington State Grange, past president and member of Spokane Federal Credit Union, past president of the Arc of Spokane, past member of the Governors Council for the Developmentally Disabled, the Spokane Transit Community for the Disabled and a member of the Washington State Easter Seal Society.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gertrude; a son, David Lozier of Pleasanton, Calif.; a daughter, Judith Lozier of Spokane; three brothers, Tom, Leonard and Jim Lozier, all of Olympia; three sisters, Ella Donahue of Shelton, Wash., Mable Davenport of Tumwater, Wash., and Ethel Price of Olympia; and two granddaughters.
